The Compaction Control System (CCS) controls course count by automating percent compaction of a compactor. Shrinkage uniformity is achieved using the CCS-300 to control the tubular compaction process to a uniform course count. The CCS-300 uses a PSM-100 Sensor System coupled with a Graphical User Interface to measure course count and adjust the compaction process, achieving seam-to-seam uniformity of course count - and thus uniform shrinkage. The functionality of the Compaction Control System is further enhanced with the integration of a Width Measurement Sensor for measurement and control of fabric width. Course count control, more predictable shrinkage, and width control - all in one powerful package. |

Independent studies of fabric shrinkage show the finisher can affect the length shrinkage variation by controlling to specific course counts. A recent study investigated shrinkage variation as a function of yarn count variations. The differences in shrinkage variations which resulted from weight control versus course count control were compared. |
